majority leader eric cantor telling republican members they should be back on sunday evening to be prepared to work. though much like the senate they have nothing to vote on right now. it is a positive sign if congressional leaders reach some type of a deal the house and senate will be in town to get votes on the record, but still there is no deal worked out right now between top democrats and top republicans in washington. house republicans are calling on the senate to pass their various proposals dealing with the fiscal cliff. the senate majority leader says it is up to the house to pass the senate plan. >> so i say to mr. speaker, take the escape we have left you. put the economic fate of the nation ahead of your own fate as speaker of the house. millions of middle class families are nervously watching, waiting and counting down the moments until our taxes go up. >> senate minority leader mitch mcconnell is expected to take the senate floor a few minutes from now. he has been saying his office has been saying throughout the day when senate democrats offer a plan, republicans will review

number two eric cantor the majority leader put out a statement putting the onus on president obama and for the reason why there has not been a deal so far. basically saying they can't move forward in the house without some sort of action in the senate the next few days. what they left out of that, unfortunately, is the reason why they are waiting on the senate to do something. the senate coming into session tomorrow, by the way. is that speaker boehner couldn't get enough votes to move forward on a plan to avert the cliff last week. that's why we are where we are right now. the president will be boarding air force one in a few hours. flying overnight back to washington. is he likely to bring together congressional leaders in the next couple days when he he gets back to washington. time is running out, harris. >> harris: no breaking news in any of that. but we did see some today. treasury secretary tim geithner saying we could hit the debt ceiling the day after we follow off the fiscal cliff if no deal is reached. >> that's right. december 31st. a lot going on there. a lot of these

over there in d.c., eamon. >> hi, mandy. i got this confirmed from kantor's office, eric cantor is confirming for me that the house will be back at 6:30 p.m. on sunday, which i believe is what you guys just reported on the air. we have that now with a source that we can attribute that to. where this is coming from is the gop conference call that was scheduled for 2:30 that we believe is still ongoing right now. and we were told earlier in the day that the house leadership would tell their members 48 hours in advance if they had to be back. now they're telling them they have to be back by 6:30 on sunday so they can make their travel plans over the weekend. no information now from cantor's office or from anybody else for that matter as to what exactly they're going to be voting on, if anything, on sunday, but just this news that they're coming back now about a full 24 hours before we expected to see the house of representatives back in washington for the weekend. that's what we have as of right now, guys. >> talk of coming back. as you can see on this news, eamon, the dow is cutti
